Recent research suggests taking too many photographs might have an adverse effect on our ability to remember in detail events we just photographed. In the Connecticut Fairfield University study, subjects were taken to a museum, where they had the option of taking photographs of works of art or simply observing and committing to memory the artwork on exhibit. The following day, those who hadn't taken any photographs were better able to recognize the objects they had seen, and in greater detail. When people rely on technology to remember for them, it can have a negative impact on how well they remember their experiences.
